Aviation · Human factors · Ergonomics
I’m Thomas Schieffer, an FAA A&P mechanic connecting hands-on aviation experience with psychology and graduate study in human factors engineering. My focus is making technical information, procedures, and systems easier for people to use.

Selected projects
Independent project · Prototype in development
Hangar Copilot
A maintenance-support prototype exploring how task context, technical references, and human review can work together. In development—not an operational or validated maintenance tool.
Information access · Interface design
Applied modeling project
Manufacturing Simulation
A production model connecting stations, queues, transport, testing, and rework. Thirty replications illustrate why average output and consistently meeting daily targets are different questions.

About Thomas
My career brings together aircraft maintenance, automotive diagnostics, prototype support, and teaching. Studying psychology and industrial and systems engineering gives me a way to examine that experience through a human factors lens.
I’m interested in maintenance human factors, reliability and maintainability, procedure design, aviation operations, and training and human-performance programs.
My path to human factors.
